The owner's guide

How to price auto detailing services.

Build a package menu, price each package by vehicle size and condition, and keep coatings and add-ons on their own lines. Then write it down, so every caller hears the same band and you confirm the price when you see the car.

Part one

How do detail shops set their prices?

Four steps, each with a market check.

  1. 01

    Sell packages, not line items.

Most customers choose by package, Housecall Pro's guide notes, so a basic, a standard and a premium tier do most of the work.

Say in one line what each one includes.

Mobile detailing for a midsize SUV averages $158 for a basic package, $278 for a standard one and $443 for a premium one, plus any travel fee.

  2. 02

Price each package by vehicle size.

A bigger vehicle takes more time, product and labor, so each package gets a price per size class: a small car, a sedan, an SUV or truck, and the largest trucks and vans.

Detailing runs from $50 to $175 for a small car to $225 to $400 for a small truck, a Jeep, a 2-row SUV or a van, with large trucks and 3-row SUVs above that, per HomeGuide (2026), as Housecall Pro's October 2026 guide cites it.

  3. 03

    Move the price with condition.

Housecall Pro says condition is often one of the biggest pricing variables. Pet hair, stains and heavy swirls take more hours than a clean car.

Say the price as a band, and confirm it when you see the car.

Paint correction averages $250 to $750 or more, per HomeGuide (2026), as Housecall Pro's October 2026 guide cites it.

  4. 04

Quote coatings and add-ons on their own.

Keep paint correction, ceramic coating, PPF and tint off the base package, each with its own price or band.

Quote coatings and full PPF after a photo or a look at the car: a coating needs the paint corrected first, and PPF depends on the coverage.

Professional ceramic coating typically runs $700 to $2,000 for most vehicles, and Housecall Pro advises quoting it on its own, not as a package add-on.

Part two

How do you write a menu every caller hears the same way?

A menu in your head changes with the day. A written one is the same at 9pm.

  • One line per service, with what it includes.
  • A price or a band for each size class.
  • What moves the price: condition, and the add-ons.
  • What you never price on the phone: multi-stage correction, full PPF, matte paint, clear coat failure.
  • The line you close on: we lock it in when we see the car.
Part three

What does the front desk do with your menu?

DetailFront quotes only the prices you give it, on every call.

Quotes your menu

Only the prices you give it, as a band that moves with size and condition.

Reads a photo

A customer texts a picture. It reads the paint and quotes the right service.

Leaves custom work to you

Multi-stage correction, full PPF and matte paint get no figure.

Books the car in

Onto your calendar, in the mode you choose.

The whole call is on how it works.

The pricing questions owners ask.

How do I price auto detailing services?

Build a package menu, price each package by vehicle size and condition, and keep coatings and add-ons on their own lines. Then write it down, so every caller hears the same band and you confirm the price when you see the car.

How much should I charge to detail a car?

What your menu says for that size and condition. As a market check, detailing a 2-row SUV or a small truck runs $225 to $400 and paint correction $250 to $750 or more, per HomeGuide (2026), as Housecall Pro's October 2026 guide cites it. Housecall Pro's October 2026 guide puts ceramic coating at $700 to $2,000.

Should I give detailing prices over the phone?

Give the band from your menu for the caller's vehicle size and condition, and say the final price is confirmed when you see the car. Custom work gets a look at the car, not a guess.

How do I price ceramic coating?

On its own line, by tier, after you see the paint: a coating needs the paint corrected first, so the correction is part of the quote. Housecall Pro puts most professional coatings at $700 to $2,000 (October 2026).
